Deadline- December 14, 2012
Countries/Region- Ghana
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is pleased to invite applications for funding opportunity programme in Ghana for which is titled “Feed the Future Agriculture Technology Transfer Project.”
USAID/Ghana’s Feed the Future (FTF) strategy concentrates on increasing the competitiveness of rice, maize and soya value chains, given their large share in the sector and importance in ensuring household income and food security as well as for nutritional impacts. Evidence shows that these crops will continue to be the most important driver of agricultural growth, especially in the North where there is a greater incidence of poverty. Analysis shows that a large majority of poor producers throughout Ghana grow maize and rice, and that the benefits of sustainably increasing farmers’ productivity can be a significant driver of poverty reduction. Soya was selected given its role in improving overall productivity in the maize cropping system, its potential for nutrition impacts, and its demand as an important input (along with maize) of livestock/poultry/fish feed.
