Deadline: 1 April 2016
The United States Agency for International Development(USAID)has launched a special call for the submission of partnership concept papers focused on advancing the success and achieving the goals of Power Africa under existing Global Development Alliance Program.
In 2013, President Obama launched the Power Africa and Trade Africa Initiatives as a new U.S. government (USG) effort to support economic growth and development in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Power Africa is a whole-of-government effort involving many agencies and departments.
Power Africa will help accelerate power generation, transmission, and expand distribution in focus countries in SSA by aligning commitments of those countries with the commitments made by private sector partners to increase investments in the power sector. USAID, together with the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) such as the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Bank (WB), as well as other donors, will facilitate and support investments and reform efforts that together will expand the availability of power for sustainable economic growth.
