Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program: Inviting Applicants from Developing Countries!

The World Bank is inviting applicants for Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program which is open to women and men from developing countries with professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts.

Established in 1987 with funding from the Government of Japan, the World Bank Joint Japan Graduate Scholarship Program has helped create an international community of highly trained professionals working in economic and social development through financing of graduate and post-graduate studies.

This program enables mid-career professionals from developing countries to access the latest techniques and knowledge through graduate studies at universities worldwide. It has helped to form a global network of well-trained and experienced development professionals, transforming their countries and positively impacting future generations.

Benefits

  • Recipients will receive a full scholarship in development studies to one of the program’s preferred masters programs
  • Scholarship includes full tuition and fees, a monthly living stipend, round-trip air tickets and travel allowance.
  • Upon completion of the program, JJ/WBGSP scholars must immediately return to their home countries to apply their new skills to their countries’ social and economic development.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be citizen of a World Bank member country eligible to borrow;
  • Not hold dual citizenship of a developed country;
  • Be under the age of 45 on the Application Deadline date;
  • Hold a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree earned at least 3 years prior to application deadline;
  • Have 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience after earning a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree;
  • Not be a staff member (which includes consultants) or relative of a staff member of the World Bank Group;
  • Be in good health;
  • Be accepted unconditionally to enroll in the upcoming academic year in one of JJWBGSP preferred master programs;
  • Submit a completed JJWBGSP application by the Application Deadline date
