Operations Officer will be based in Aceh Office
In response to the GOI’s request for coordination following the tsunami-and-earthquake disaster in Aceh and Nias in 2005 Multi Donor Trust Fund has been set up with World Bank as Trustee to support Indonesia’s recovery program. As of June 2009, the contributions stand at approximately US $681 million for the MDF of Aceh and Nias. The World Bank serves as Trustee of the Funds and has established a Secretariat to support the Steering Committees governing the MDF and the Trustee in fulfilling their roles.
The Steering Committees consist of Government (central, provincial and local), donors and representatives of the recovery agency’s supervisory and advisory bodies, including civil society. Other key individuals, such as the United Nations Coordinator and a representative of the international NGO community, participate in the Steering Committee as development partners. The Steering Committee meets on a regular basis in Jakarta or Aceh to review and endorse proposals and discuss progress in recovery in Aceh and North Sumatra. Endorsement and other procedures are specified in an operational manual. The Committees are each co-chaired by designated representatives of the Government, the fund Trustee and the major donor.
The World Bank set up a Secretariat to support the Steering Committee and World Bank as Trustee in its roles. The Secretariat is led by a Program Manager and has a team of eight full time staff in Jakarta and four full-time staff in Banda Aceh. The Jakarta team is comprised of the Deputy Program Manager for Jakarta, Communications and Donor Coordination Officer, the Finance and Administration Officer, a Quality Assurance Officers, and three team assistants. The Banda Aceh team is comprised of the Deputy Program Manager for Aceh and Nias, a Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, an Outreach Officer, and one Team Assistant.
