World Bank requires application from the eligible candidates for the post of Communications Associate (Grade- GE) in Vientiane, Laos. It may be noted that this job is only for the local residents only. Fluency in English and Laotian is essential. Candidates who do not fulfill eligibility criteria need not to apply.
Minimum Education/Experience at recruitment:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations/Public Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, or other related field
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience in development issues, including prior experience in communications
- Good understanding of communications approaches, tools and methodologies related to planning, executing, and monitoring external communications strategies
- Ability to implement sometimes difficult communications plans, ensuring goals are effectively met within established deadlines
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Lao language
Duties and Accountabilities:
The Communications Associate will:
- help to develop, execute, and monitor the impact of communications strategies and campaigns about the Bank’s work program in Lao PDR for internal and external audience
- write, collect, and disseminate information about the World Bank’s program in Lao PDR
- respond to routine and non-routine inquiries about the Bank from all constituencies to enhance two-way communications and dialogue with key audiences, presenting complex information on sometimes difficult issues
- assist with the planning and coordination of scheduling, logistics and briefings for sometimes large communications activities and events (e.g. speeches, press conferences, seminars, town hall meetings, WB projects brief, yearly country brief, radio, news releases, posters, non-written communications tools – web tools etc.) involving internal and/or external audiences
- routinely gather basic information from inside and outside sources about the Bank and its work to monitor and stay abreast of current events, activities, and thinking on Bank-related issues
- Develop and carry out a program designed to engage Lao youth on issues of development, World Bank programs and activities, monitor, guide and supervise Youth Assistant to implement WB Youth program to engage Lao youth on development issues, WB programs and activities. This might involve giving presentation to university students or youth groups about the work of the Bank, and development issues in Laos
- Under the Country Manager’s guidance, establish the 2020 Center and liaise with other stakeholders
- work closely with Social Development Officer to assist in the selection, operation and implementation process of the Small Grant Program
