The recognition and the efforts sections require 2-3 paragraphs and less than 1500 characters (about 300 words) for each of them. And the requirements from the WAC for the nominees are as follows:
- Nominees must have full knowledge that they are being nominated. It is strongly recommended that the person you are nominating and the related organization assist you in completing the nomination form;
- Nominees must be available to participate in the Annual Award Ceremonies held in New York City, USA. Travel and accommodations will be arranged and paid for by the WAC;
- Nominees must be nominated for one award only, and submission for multiple categories will be disqualified;
- The WAC excludes any work designed to specifically advance any one religion or political position, and reserves the right to exclude nominations it deems to be religious or political in nature.
The recognition section represents a summary of the goal of the contribution to children’s lives, and it must be a long term aim. The examples of the recognition for the Health Award could be: “the nominee has created or managed a sustainable program which has significantly contributed to the improved health of children” such as reconstructive surgeries and medical care for children living in poverty; for the Humanitarian Award could be: “the nominee has created or managed a sustainable system or residence which has significantly improved children’s situations to be safe, to grow and to receive education;” and for the Youth Award could be: “the nominee has made extraordinary contributions to the living conditions and educations of other children.” You may give further descriptions to the details of the recognition.
The efforts section represents the specific targets the nominee has achieved to reach the goal, and there could be several efforts for one goal. You may start with revealing a local problem which required the efforts from the nominee of the NGO to solve or improve. These are efforts suggested but not limited to:
- Child patient focused and health-centered approached;
- Providing and improving health and medical care to children with basic needs;
- Greater and meaningful involvement of children abandoned and living in poverty;
- Combating discriminations to girls in health and educational services;
- Providing and improving residential conditions and services;
- Assisting children with special educational and informative needs.
