Any proposal application would demand a deeper analysis of the problem for which you are requesting the funds. The analysis is important for the donor to understand the cause-effect relationship. It also helps understand how much research and consultation you have carried out to develop and propose this project. A proposal attaches a great deal of importance of the analysis of the problem.
You are writing this proposal because you have identified a certain problem existing in your area. The problem could even be a small gap that you have observed but its consequences could be enormous.
For example, if you see a lot of youths gathering around in your area unproductively, it can lead to unemployment or even conflicts at some point in future. In your project, you can propose this analysis linking unproductively of youths in your area with the unemployment that can occur at the large scale in near future. Remember that you need to provide proper references and statistics to provide reliable information in this regard.
Nigeria’s Tolerance Academy was a project funded by YSF that addressed the problem of religious conflict between Muslim and Christian youths who were placed as interns in churches and mosques respectively to build a cross-cultural understanding. Such a project is not only directly relevant to the mission of YSF; it is also relevant to current situation of the area where religious strife is a ‘problem’.
When analyzing the problem, always ensure that you identify the cause of the problem and its consequences. Under such a relation, it is easier to develop the problem analysis.
