The Global Junior Challenge (GJC) 2014, rewarding the innovative use of technology for the education of 21st century and the social inclusion is open for project entries. The Fondazione Mondo Digitale invites youth around the globe to take part in the challenge. Entries can be the projects in all fields of youth education ranging from websites created by middle school students to global projects employing cutting edge technology for online training.
The GJC highlights the role of technology in didactic innovation, social innovation, development and the reduction of world poverty reflecting upon the importance of the challenges posed by 21st century education.
Project Areas
- Education for the 21st Century– Projects promoting ICT for environmental sustainability in collaboration with Legambiente; and Projects using ICT to train youth to obtain initial job placement
- Social Inclusion– Projects promoting ICT for migrants and refugees integration
Awards
- The main GJC Award – to one winner
- The President of the Italian Republic Award – to six ICT-based educational innovation
- The GJC Award for finalist projects from poor areas of the world – to finalist projects from the poorer areas of the world
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can be schools and universities (public and private); public and private institutions and organizations; associations, cooperatives and other non-profit organizations, public and private companies, research centers, and individual citizens of any age from around the globe.
- Applicant can be maximum 29 years of age.
- The project should be still in operation as of 31 December 2014 and must use new ICT technology for education and training.
