The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Somalia is currently accepting proposals from eligible institutions to Conduct Research on Youth & Migration in South Central Somalia. The research recommendations will contribute towards concerted action aimed at addressing youth unemployment in South Central (SC) and to a larger extent the rest of Somalia both from the supply side (which skills to be reinforced) and the demand side (which sectors and activities should be targeted). The research will include participation by local government to reflect official views and needs.
This research will offer a comprehensive survey of SC’s youth migration and its linkages to livelihood opportunities with the age demographic being youth between the ages of 14-30 years. The sample must include:
- Migrant Groups: returnees, IDPs, rural-urban migrants and non-migrants.
- Demographic groups: male and female youth within the 14-30 year bracket
- Urban – Rural Variations: the survey covering major towns in SC

Eligibility Criteria
- Institutions eligible for participating in this call for proposal are-
- Private companies
- Professional individuals with experience in research
- They should have a working office and an organizational profile.
- They should have extensive working experience in similar researches
- They should have financial capacity to pre finance part of the activities and adequate staff in relation to the needs required for the proposed project
- They should have capacity to conduct the research within Somalia
- The proposed project should have duration of not more than 4 Months.
- Beneficiaries of the research must be-
- Unemployed university graduates and skilled youth aged 1-30 years old in SC
- Unskilled youth aged 14-30 years old in SC
- Migrants involved in irregular migration
