The University of San Diego, USA invites youth below 25 for sixth Hansen Summer Institute on Leadership and International Cooperation Program to be held from 29 June – 20 July 2015. The Summer Institute is funded by the Fred J. Hansen Foundation.
The institute aims at creating an international community of young scholars who will use their summer experience as a foundation for creating lasting friendships and acquiring common practical understanding of a more peaceful future. The institute provides participants a leadership toolbox for resolving conflict and building a better future for their respective countries.
Program Elements: Class-room instruction and hands on training in the latest techniques of
- Conflict resolution
- Meditation
- Inter-cultural management
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be under 25 years of age with at least 2 years of college/university.
- Applicants must be proficient in English. This should be verified by an academic advisor.
- Applicants must have a valid international passport with US visa (if necessary) by the time the program begins.
- Students who have never been to the United States before are encouraged.
- Successful applicants must demonstrate leadership potential by having worked outside of class in community service, another public service, or in a non-governmental organization.
- A letter of reference from such a group or organization is required.
- In case of US students, applicants must be upper-division active undergraduate or graduate at California college or university.
