The United States African Development Fund (USADF) is open to applications from African owned and managed organizations seeking monetary or technical support to provide maximum benefit to an underserved and underserved population group. The USADF provides seed capital and technical support to community enterprises having their own development priorities for their growth. The applying organizations must participate poor, underserved people through their projects. The USADF also provides technical support to turn the proposed idea/project into viable business and project plans. It also provides monitoring support during the project implementation.
Eligibility Criteria
- The organization must be 100 percent African-owned and managed.
- The organization must be a legally recognized African entity (or in the process of becoming legally registered. Registration must be completed before any funding may be provided).
- The applicant must be an African community group or organization that represents its own development priorities and includes the participation of the poor in setting project objectives.
- The organization must demonstrate that it has successfully worked together and has the potential to productively utilize development funds.
- The ownership and management must be in agreement on the problem to be addressed and have a commitment to benefit their community.
- The organization must have basic functional management and controls to use and account for USADF funds.
- The project should be consistent with USADF’s host country strategies and partnerships.
- There must be sufficient management, technical and financial resources available for project success.
- The project should have potential for broader replication.
- The project should demonstrate that it could provide maximum benefit to an underserved and underserved population group.
