A non-profit organization, the Youth Consortium for Progress (YCP) is a network of young people who wish to progress in life through their hard work and progressive ideas. YCP is registered in the Gambia and provides support to all the young people who face challenges in their quest of excellence. YCP is an affiliate organisation of the Harambe Entrepreneurship Alliance. It has five Gambian officials and an international Executive team with members from different parts of the world.
Key Objectives of YCP
Create and sustain a network of youth committed to building up and supporting one another and working together to develop their society.
Provide avenues for youth to express themselves, learn from one another about the major issues impacting their societies, articulate the challenges and address the constraints to peace and development in Latrikunda German by sharing information, experience, knowledge, skills, research findings, best practices and lessons learnt from projects, in order to raise community awareness on personal development, peace building and development issues.
- Encourage and motivate Gambian youth to pursue formal education and thereby reduce the rate of student dropout from schools in the country.
- Encourage youth initiatives aimed at promoting personal and community development, as well as social harmony, peace and economic development.
- Organize and motivate the youth to participate in community development programs in conjunction with other development organizations.
- Empower Gambian and African youths to pursue their dreams through the provision of courses on career counseling, entrepreneurship training and the development of writing skills.
- Promote the attitudes of hard work, dignity of labor and integrity among youths.
Currently, YCP is looking to recruit more youth leaders to join its education, entrepreneurship, community, management and communications teams.
