Australian Agency for International Development (AUSAID)

AUSAID (Australian Agency for International Development) is the Australian Government’s overseas aid programme providing grant assistance to NGOs (and the government and other institutions) for purposes of reducing poverty and achieving sustainable development, in line with Australia’s national interest. The themes addressed by the aid programme include:

  • Environment
  • Gender
  • Governance
  • Health
  • Human rights
  • Infrastructure
  • Regional stability
  • Rural development and water
The aid programme is present is almost all the developing regions of the world including South and East Asia, the Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. Its NGO funding scheme includes the Direct Aid Program (DAP) and Small Activities Scheme (SAS) for organizations in developing countries, other than the direct funding support to Australian NGOs.
