The Norwegian Human Rights Fund is an organization set up by a group of
NGOs in Norway “to protect and promote
human rights internationally.” The Fund financially supports
organizations in low and middle-income countries where human rights are challenged in general or to a specific group of people. The group of organizations in Norwegian Human Rights Fund are Amnesty International Norway; Norwegian Centre for Human Rights; Norwegian Church Aid; Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions; Church of Norway Council on Ecumenical and International Relations; The Atlas Alliance; and Save the Children Norway. Although
grants are extended to countries where there are human rights problems, the Fund has prioritized some countries such as Peru, Colombia, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Uganda, India and Pakistan.
The projects supported by the Fund generally cover activities such as advocacy, building of knowledge and capacity of the target group, organizational development, promotion of economic, social and cultural rights etc. The Fund accepts proposals throughout the year and the maximum grant expected from it is US $25,000.
