The Swedish Institute (SI) invites eligible young women from the Middle East and North Africa, Iran and Sweden for the She Entrepreneurs 2012 Program.
She Entrepreneurs is a leadership program started by the SI for the women who have some vision and are willing to contribute to the world for sustainable change. It is a network of women social entrepreneurs which offers all the tools to its members for making joint strategies for welfare of women around the world. The network also promotes partnerships between women of Sweden and from other parts of the world.
Eligibility
- You should have drive, ambition and interest to use social entrepreneurship to implement a social project.
- You should have a good working knowledge of both written and spoken English.
- You should have basic knowledge of the Internet and social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
- You are between 20 and 30 years old.
- You are from Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, Jordan, Morocco, West Bank-Gaza, Yemen, Iran or Sweden.
Selection Process
- A selection committee with staff from SI as well as representatives from partner organizations and field experts will evaluate the applications according to the following:
- The applicant’s project plan for My Idea and the idea for a social project that will be the focus of the program.
- The applicant’s drive, motivation and commitment, as well as their answers to the questions of the She Entrepreneurs application form.
- An assessment of the applicant’s CV.
- A number of shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews as a second step in the selection process. The interviews will be conducted through Skype.
- SI will take into account the recommendations of the selection committee as well as the candidate’s general suitability for the program. A maximum of 20 applicants will be selected to attend She Entrepreneurs 2012.
Accommodation, Food and Travel
All costs related to accommodation, food and transport during She Entrepreneurs are covered by SI. SI will also arrange and pay for your air travel to and from Sweden, but participants are responsible for costs related to transport within their own countries.
Insurance
During the program in Sweden all participants will be insured against acute illness and accident through the Swedish State Group Insurance and personal insurance by the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Service Agency (Kammarkollegiet).
Visa
Selected participants are responsible for obtaining their visas in good time before departure to Sweden and other relevant countries. When applying for visa the Swedish Institute will provide the participants with a letter of invitation and will also cover the cost.
