End Poverty (EP) has been registered with the aim to develop the capacity and skills of the members of socially and economically disadvantaged communities in India in such a way that they are better able to identify and help meet their needs and to participate more fully in society.
Objectives: The main objective of the organization shall remain socio – economic empowerment of the most disadvantaged groups in India and contribute to their active inclusion in all aspects of their life so that they may be enabled to strengthen their community development role and contribute to the elimination of poverty within their communities.
Operational Area: End Poverty (EP) has a mandate to work all over India. The prime function of EP will be to operate as a reputable, effective and viable Indian organization and design & deliver innovative and self-sustaining development programs and village-based initiatives as set out in its Mission and Objects.
Activities: Main focus of its activities is on poverty alleviation and. It works in close coordination with community based organizations to develop leadership at the village level. To begin with, EP has selected a pocket of ten villages from Tijara Block of Alwar districts.
We have initiated the preparation of micro plans for each village. This will act as a measurable index for the villagers as well as for our own efforts. The plan would identify complete details of the village resources and find out gaps and missing links.
As the majority of people in the area are engaged in agriculture or allied activities. Therefore, EP focuses on agricultural activities and aim to double the income from farm and cattle rearing in three to five years time.
We are developing a long term water shed development program in collaboration with the community for sustainability of their natural resources which are under immense stress as of now.
Strategy: To achieve our goals of empowering community, we are promoting self help from the start itself. We focus on strengthening the institutional development at village level and building up their capacity through regular training and exposure visits. The EP make efforts to find ways and opportunities to learn about and test new development tools that may be relevant to local situation, as well as arranging for the people to find out about practical solutions that have been tried and tested in other village situations. We plan to develop a model which would strengthen micro level, people centered self-managed activities with potential for growth and whose sustainability will depend upon their ability to manage themselves and link to main stream development process from the position of strength and not merely be the beneficiaries of programs.
Governing Body: The Governing Body members of the society are highly qualified and experienced people in the field of rural development and academics. Members take keen interest in the society affair. The day to day operations are looked after by The General Secretary of the society who also acts as Chief Executive officer of the society.
