United States Agency for International Development(USAID) is accepting applications for ‘READ Alliance’ Program in India. The mission if this program is to attain reading skills at the primary level which are on a lifetime trajectory of limited educational progress and therefore limited economic and development opportunity. USAID intends to provide approximately $3,200,000 in total USAID funding for the life of the activity. The objective of this program are-
- to seek out, test, and apply cost-effective and sustainable solutions and innovations to meet developmental challenges in India
- to support and catalyze the global diffusion of development solutions proven in India, sharing these to accelerate development outcomes in other countries.
Alliance will establish a multi-stakeholder platform that will work to identify innovative early grade reading interventions, support their scale-up, and stimulate the adoption and scale of these innovations by the Government of India, private sector, and other key players in the education sector. Equally important, the platform will also strive to catalyze a culture of reading in India that draws additional interest, support, and resources to the topic of early grade reading to ultimately improve reading outcomes among Indian primary schoolchildren.
