Deadline- 11 July 2013
Funding opportunity has been announced for Hausa language Media Platform for West Africa offered by U.S. Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism. The objective of this program is to provide Hausa-language TV content via free-to-air satellite – with a footprint to cover northern Nigeria.
Objectives-
- Create, develop, and operate for two years a satellite TV channel that provides Hausa-speaking youth in northern Nigeria with a robust slate of primarily Hausa-language TV programs with themes that reject: (a) political violence; and (b) violent extremism.
- Develop, adapt, or commission high-quality programming that will demonstrate salient qualities of democratic, open societies (i.e., rejection of political violence and violent extremism; respect for rule of law; and advocacy for inter-ethnic and interfaith tolerance).
- Build a brand for the channel and develop an associated revenue stream that would pave the way for a follow-on, sole-source award involving a significantly smaller contribution of Department of State assistance to an overall operation of similar or greater scope.
Eligibility & Criteria-
The successful applicant may be a public or private academic institution, non-governmental organization, or for-profit entity. Applicants that are for-profit entities are reminded that profit may not be earned on U.S. Federal Foreign Assistance.
