1.) In no more than 225 words, the applicant needs to indicate the roles and responsibilities of co-applicants as well as key implementing partners, explaining which components of the project each will implement. Also explain synergies/coordination with existing initiatives to end violence against women.
Example 1: Specific roles and responsibilities of key implementing partners include:
- Executive Director: The Executive Director will be responsible for leading and managing the entire project including the creation of the media tool kit.
- Project Leaders: Two Project Leaders (one to work on construction and one to oversee the educational components of the project).
- Construction Firm: The Executive Director, Project Leader, and Construction Firm leadership have already consulted on site locations and design of the five safe sites. Weekly and additional meetings will be held throughout construction as needed.
- Educational Leaders: The Executive Director, Project Leader, school administrators and teachers have built relationships over many years of collaborating on school events related to violence against women. A timeline of activities has been created to develop and implement school policies and relevant curricular elements.
- Legislative Advocacy: The Executive Director and those supportive of eradicating violence against women in the country (e.g., parents, students, educators, etc.) will be meeting with local and national government representatives to create a working committee to draft legislation. All participants will be encouraged to heighten the awareness of the new legislation when the populace has the opportunity to vote.
Specific project elements that have been described throughout this grant application have been coordinated with existing initiatives in order to ensure the continuation of the work that has been occurring.
Example 2: The following individuals have been assigned specific roles:
- Executive Director: is responsible for the overall management of the project.
- Project Manager: is responsible for project task management including scheduling of meetings, progress reports, etc.
- Expert Facilitator: will work with groups at each company to develop and implement new policies and procedures.
- External Evaluator: will implement the analysis plan and develop reports and documents for the project team to review and use to implement any changes, if needed.
- Company Leadership: Each company will identify a member of upper management to actively engage in the process.
- Union Representatives: Each company will identify a member of the union to actively engage in the project.
- Offshore Company Leadership: Companies that contract with India-based garment factories involved in the project will identify a company representative to participate in the project.
- Legislative Advocacy: Project leaders will develop a coalition of representatives from various nonprofit organizations (both local and international) that focus on women’s issues, relevant unions, companies outsourcing work to India in the garment industry, and relevant government agencies to participate in activities that are opportunities to influence government representatives.
Our practice is to analyze the processes and outcomes of our previous and current projects in order to learn activities that work and those that do not work, then make adjustments accordingly.
