NGO Fund of the European Economic Area (EEA)/Norway Grants, which aims to strengthen Hungarian NGOs is inviting applications for an Action Project. The major objective of the Hungarian NGO Fund is ‘strengthened civil society development and enhanced contribution to social justice, democracy and sustainable development’ in Hungary.
The Action Project Fund is allocated to projects that aim to raise awareness about problems occurring in human rights and rights of minorities (based on ethnic, religious, linguistic and sexual orientation), equal opportunities; combating racism and xenophobia, homophobia, anti-semitism, extremism; tolerance, multicultural understanding and social inclusion instead of discrimination and exclusion; understanding, mitigation and solution of problems arising from poverty and inequalities (with special attention to the situation of ROMA); and promoting gender equality, combating inequalities, gender-based and domestic violence and trafficking. The projects that take action to solve these problems in order to change or improve the present situation are awarded grant of minimum 1000 € and maximum 5000 € for maximum one year.
Projects that rely on diverse methods, including modern online tools or any other innovative, creative solutions which can be demonstrated to be effective are prioritized. The actions must address one or several of the concerns of the EEA/Norway grants through activities combating hate speeches and hate crime.
Eligibility Criteria –
- A “non-governmental organization” (NGO) established in Hungary which meets the following definition: ‘A non-profit voluntary organization established as a legal entity, having a non-commercial purpose, independent of local, regional and central government, public entities, political parties and commercial organizations. Religious institutions and political parties are not considered NGOs.’ can apply for the grant.
Applications are being accepted from 16th December 2013 till 31 December 2014 or until the budget ( 285,000 €) is not exhausted.
