All the African Students in the African continent who are graduating from the secondary school in 2015 or 2016 and plan to pursue undergraduate education in the United States are invited to be the part of Yale Young African Scholars Program. The program is hosted by Yale University.
The five-day Yale Young African Scholars Program targets talented students with drive, energy, and ideas to make meaningful impacts as young leaders before entering the University education. The participants will be guided by Yale Faculty and African undergraduate and graduate students who currently attended Yale. They will not only get insight and understanding on global issues but will also become capable to strategize responses, and innovate solutions.
Program Locations & Dates:
- Ghana – 11-15 August 2014 (at the Institute of African Studies’ Yiri Lodge, University of Ghana)
- Ethiopia – 18-22 August 2014 (at the Ethiopian Management Institute in Debre Zeit)
Yale University sponsors accommodation, class instruction, and food. In case of Ethiopia session, transportation from Addis to Debre Zeit is also provided.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must have strong interests in the program content and in pursuing an undergraduate degree in the United States.
- Applicants must demonstrate a high academic achievement and leadership potential.
- Applicants should also be able and willing to work openly and effectively with peers
- Applicants must be proficient in English.
Application form must be downloaded from the website, completely filled and submitted via email. Application materials include – one personal essay, three short answer questions, one teacher evaluation, and an official school transcript/report.
