The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Georgia is accepting proposals from non-governmental organizations for direct financial support for innovative programs to strengthen transparent and accountable governance in Georgia.
The APS is designed to seek relationships beyond traditional USAID norms by encouraging submissions from local partner organizations, including those who have never received direct funding from USAID. As per funds availability, USAID intends to make grant up to $250,000 with duration of 36 months related to transparent and accountable governance.
Applicants may address these policy areas in applications under this APS –
- Public administration reform (including civil service reform)
- Local self-government and decentralization reform
- Independent media reform
- Healthcare reform
- Gender equality, including implementation of gender-related laws and action plans
- Open Government Partnership
- European and Euro-Atlantic integration
- Minority integration
Eligibility Criteria
- Only Georgian based non-governmental and qualified organizations are eligible to apply.
- NGOs, advocacy groups, for-profit business, trade and professional organizations, independent national institutions, research and public policy institutes, think tanks, and universities may apply.
- Participating organizations must be:
- Be organized under the laws of Georgia;
- Be registered in the Georgian NGO registry for at least two years;
- Have their primary place of business in Georgia;
- Be majority owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Georgia or be managed by a governing body, the majority of whom are citizens or lawful permanent residents Georgia;
- Not be controlled by foreign entity or by an individual or individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of Georgia;
- Have an annual budget of no less than $50,000 per year in the past two years
- (2012 and 2013)
- Have at least two years of experience working in a related field.
How to Apply
The application process involves two stages: an information session and the submission of a concept paper. After these two stages, USAID will invite the selected Concept Papers to submit a full application.
