The Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) in association with Asia Development Alliance (ADA) and Asia Democracy Network (ADN) is calling applications to join the 3rd Glocal Advocacy Leadership in Asia (GALA) Academy. The aim of this initiative is to strengthen the international advocacy capacity of mid and high level staff in CSOs on human rights, development, and democracy issues.
The GALA Academy will be held in Bangkok, Thailand for 8 full days from August 1 to 9, 2015. GALA Academy will help to develop an understanding of human rights processes and international policy- agenda.
FORUM-ASIA – Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) is a membership-based regional human rights organization committed to the promotion and protect ion of all human rights including the right to development.
ADA – Asia Development Alliance (ADA) is a regional network of national & sub-national development NGO/CSO platforms in Asia -South, Southeast and Northeast Asia.
ADN – Asia Democracy Network (ADN) is a civil society led multi-stakeholders’ platform among democracy advocates and human rights defenders dedicated to the strengthening of democracy and human rights.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full time mid-or high-level staff in a national, sub-regional (South, Southeast and Northeast Asia) or regional NGO/CSO in Asia
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of policy and advocacy on human rights or/and development
- Commitment to working in the same organization at least until the end of 2017
- Sufficient knowledge and experiences related to MDGs, Post-2015 Development Agenda, democracy related issues and/or national/ regional/ UN human rights mechanisms
- Timely and satisfactory completion and submission of (preparatory) home-assignments
- Ability to communicate in English (both spoken and written).
