The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Programme Analyst based in Lusaka, Zambia.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Programme Analyst will perform the following functions-
- In collaboration with government, NGOs, professional associations and other partners, the Fistula Programme Analyst oversees the formulation and design of the country programme and its component in line with national priorities as articulated in the policies addressing Fistula Prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, as well as fostering strategic partnerships for social re-integration of repaired fistula clients.
- Oversees and provides technical support to government at national and sub-national levels in the implementation and monitoring of the institutionalization of Fistula management related programmes in an integrated manner.
- Reviews the political, social and economic environment relevant to the country context, and pursues opportunities for UNFPA partnership and intervention. Assesses implications of new policy developments and strategies and provides advice in respect to SDGs targets and in line with the ICPD beyond 2014 commitments.
- Oversees and provides technical support to government at national and sub-national levels in the implementation and monitoring of the institutionalization of Fistula management related programmes in an integrated manner.
- Oversees the implementation of Fistula management and other maternal morbidities by collaborative partnerships, alliances and initiatives, to ensure the effective implementation of programmes; while also actively participates in coordination mechanisms on Maternal and Newborn in order to advance UNFPA’s area of work.
- Ensures the creation and documentation of knowledge about current and emerging, Fistula management and other maternal morbidities and complications, by the programme team through the analysis of programme strategies, approaches and on-going experience for lessons learned, best practices, and uses this knowledge for information sharing and planning future strategies.
- Participates in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of Country Office by ensuring preparation of relevant documentation, i.e. project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in related donor meetings and public information events.
- Undertakes reporting for Fistula management and other maternal morbidities related global programmes as required and contributes to UNFPA country office, regional and global corporate reports.
- Support the CO’s engagement in the Delivery as One modality and implementation of the Standard Operating procedures and management accountability framework for the UN system in Zambia.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Representative.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Masters degree in public health, medicine and/or other related social science field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with increasing professional experience and responsibilities at national level.
- Familiarity and knowledge of the functioning of the UN and its policies will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of rights-centered approaches to promote Maternal Newborn Health (MNH)
- Working experience in policy analysis, and advocacy for women’s health and empowerment in the context of sustainable development.
- Working experience in communication and advocacy.
- Demonstrated experience in programme/project planning, design, follow up, monitoring and evaluation.
- Proficiency in current office software applications.
- Short-listed candidates may be required to successfully complete a UNFPA position related test.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
