The Asian Development Bank (ADB), is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Economist based in Manila, Philippines.
The ADB aims for an Asia and Pacific free from poverty.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Economist performs the following functions-
- Participate in teams preparing the Key Indicators.
- Contribute to Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department’s (ERCD’s) research agenda in the areas of labor markets and human capital development, international trade, SME development, urbanization, infrastructure development and impact evaluation.
- Prepare briefing notes, speeches and operational research papers.
- Work independently and in research teams to produce high-quality research papers.
- Undertake collaborative research with specialists in a global network of knowledge institutions and with other ADB knowledge departments.
- Design and implement technical assistance projects for the DMCs.
- Support statistics capacity building technical assistance projects by linking efforts to improve data quality and coverage with policy relevant data analysis.
- Review and comment on ADB’s economic and policy analysis work.
- Provide technical advice and training to other ADB departments on impact evaluations and analysis of survey and administrative data.
- Support the development of online databases and analytical tools for enriching operational and economic analyses.
- Support ADB Management in its dialogue with clients on development topics related to ERCD’s research work.
- Contribute to the dissemination of ERCD’s research work and the Key Indicators.
- Participate in and contribute to internal and external training and conferences and other activities for advocacy, dissemination and knowledge building.
- Participate in research dissemination, networking, and capacity building activities with other institutions.
- Provide leadership and support to reporting staff.
- Supervise the performance of reporting staff, providing clear direction and regular monitoring and feedback on performance.
- Ensure the on-going learning and development of reporting staff.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A University degree in Economics or related fields with specialization in development economics, international trade, labor economics, or public finance, preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
- At least 6 years of relevant professional experience with proven publications records in economic research or at least 2 years of relevant work experience with at least 4 years of research experience at PhD level.
- Strong background in econometric analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- International experience working in several countries.
