United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of ICT Specialist (Business Information) in New York, United States.
The ICT Specialist (Business Information) will design and configure the report delivery environment to ensure high availability with response times falling within agreed limits.
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The ICT Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Using Data warehousing design and administration, web interface technologies, tools and techniques, and work with the Business Information systems analysts report programmers, database developers to translate business rules and metadata into design, implementation and update of logical and physical structures {tables, indexes, stored procedures, etc.) and procedures in the data warehouse and SAP BW.
- Continuously monitor and tune the Data Warehousing and reporting infrastructure and related info cubes and data stores, in order to ensure that refresh rates and report response times fall within agreed limits and that data is available to users as per agreed service level.
- In coordination with systems analysts and programmers, design, document, test implements and maintain the extract, transform, and load procedures {ETL) that will populate the Data Warehouse and related info cubes and data stores with data from different UNICEF systems and supplementary sources. Assure that ETL is done in the optimal form to minimize time and resources required to populate and update the Data Warehouse.
- Using report presentation technologies to ensure that the computer – users interface is intuitive, responsive, secure and scalable in order to provide a solid basis for global web based reporting.
- Coordinate with ICT staff and short-term staff in work planning and other supervisory and management functions.
- Perform and assume other tasks, duties and responsibilities that may be required, as defined by Supervisor.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An advanced university degree (Master’s) in Information Systems Management, Information Management, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field is required.
- A first university degree (Bachelor’s) in a relevant field (as identified above) combined with seven (7) years of relevant work experience (as identified below), may be taken in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Certificates and trainings in information management or application system development are considered an asset.
- Five (5) years of work experience, in information technology with hands-on experience in SAP Business Warehouse and knowledge of data warehousing design concepts and dimensional modeling techniques is required.
- Strong logical thinking with capability to analyze, design and implement business processes and translate them into automated solutions is highly desirable.
- System Development Lifecycle methodologies, systems development in a large scale IT environment Practices and principles of systems development lifecycle, analysis, maintenance, support and operations is highly desirable.
- SAP BW and data warehousing design concepts and dimensional modeling techniques is highly desirable.
- Extract, transform, and load process used to populate large consolidated databases with disparate sources is highly desirable.
- Physical and logical Database design is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of integrating with one of SAP modules such as Finance, SD, MM, and Grants are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of BI Applications, tools and techniques (e.g. KPI, Management Information Reports, corporate reporting, data analytics, predictive analytics, and data science) is highly desirable.
- Prior Experience working with in-memory databases or SAP HANA is desirable.
- Good technical and business process documentation skills are highly desirable.
- Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Fluency in an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is considered an asset.
