The Betavine Social Exchange (BSX) was officially launched in South Africa on 15 October 2009 at the SANGONeT Conference in Johannesburg.
BSX aims to help people solve challenges in the developing world using mobile technology. NGOs and local people raise challenges, developers create mobile solutions and partners assist with the deployment. Mobile solutions are beta-trialled using Betavine’s core functionality, whilst local entrepreneurs and businesses help devise a sustainable deployment plan to ensure the solution can become accessible in the long-term.
Vodacom is sponsoring three Challenges on the Betavine Social Exchange with a combined prize of R80 000.
The three Challenges are completely open, inviting mobile developers, local businesses and entrepreneurs and students to get together to create solutions to Challenges in:
- Education & Training, with Community Partner the Meraka Institute;
- Health “fighting HIV/Aids”, with Community Partner CellLife;
- Community Information, with Community Partner RLabs.
Each winner will receive a cash prize of R20 000 with the opportunity to discuss deployment options with the Vodacom Innovation team.
An overall winner will be selected who will win a further R20 000 for their great work.
You can enter all of the three Challenges to increase your chances of winning.
