The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Program Manager in Washington DC, United States.
WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Program Manager will perform the following functions-
- Provide leadership that delivers GFSP-driven programs that result in demonstrated improvements in food safety capacity under the guidance from the GFSP Governing Council and the Agriculture Practice Manager.
- Lead the GFSP Secretariat in its day to day operations, implementing the GFSP Strategic Plan and associated Operational Work Plans in accordance with the GFSP’s Vision and Mission and guidance from the Governing Council.
- Ensure that the GFSP Governing Council has all necessary inputs from the Secretariat to enable it to fulfill its functions; and.
- Be the primary spokesperson for the GFSP in public fora and with WBG senior management within the WBG.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced degree in a relevant field such as food or agricultural sciences, (agri-) business management, public health, agricultural economics, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of experience, with a minimum of 10 years senior leadership experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in subjects related to food and agriculture.
- A track record of delivering excellent results in previous public or private sector food safety-related positions.
- Strong experience in multi-stakeholder partnership engagement (across public, private, academic, and non-government organizations) in relation to economic development/capacity building in low and middle income countries, and, where possible, in relation to the field of food safety.
- An understanding of and experience related to international development; some experience in working with the World Bank Group; and experience in regional/international capacity building.
- First-hand experience in managing and leading a multi-disciplinary organization.
- Demonstrated ability to build, mobilize and support organized and focused teams to address challenges and achieve outcomes, while actively seeking and considering diverse ideas and approaches.
- Leadership and representation skills of the highest order, demonstrated at the domestic, regional and international level in key forums associated with food safety or a related field, to enable discussions with representatives from all sectors associated with the GFSP.
- Demonstrated drive to achieve results including proven experience in identifying necessary resources and determining solutions to achieve required outcomes.
- High level experience in the sharing of best practice, knowledge and lessons learned, with exceptional communication skills to address the needs of broad ranges of audiences.
