Interpeace in partnership with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), with the co-operation of UNITAR and on behalf of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland to offer a senior-level course to enhance leadership in peace building.
The course is ‘by invitation’ and has been tailored to meet the needs of current and potential leaders whose remits touch on peace building. 24 participants will be selected from a competitive process to come to Geneva at the end of October for this five day interactive course. ‘Enhancing leadership in peace building’ provides an opportunity for practitioners who are current and potential leaders to enhance their understanding of sustainable peace building and leadership styles.
A gender balanced group of individuals, domestic and international actors, government and non-government representatives, civil society and members of the security forces will come together to enhance their knowledge and understanding of effective peace building and leadership.
Highlights of the course include a comprehensive understanding of:
· The latest peace building trends, insights and best practices
· Different leadership styles and skills that can support a peace building objective
· The importance of collaborative and lateral leadership in peace building settings
· Input from recognized leaders in peace building
· A creative mix of workshop styles and experiential teaching styles
