Applications are invited by Action Aid from qualified and deserving candidates for the job/vacancy of International Campaign Manager- Land Grabs. Location of this job will be based in Johannesburg, Nairobi, Bangkok or Rio.
Salary: Base Salary GBP£45,489pro rata (will vary by location)
Essential Knowledge and Experience
- At least seven years campaigning experience with a strong international campaigning background, including in both implementation and strategic roles, ideally on issues strongly linked to the Land-grabs campaign.
- Experience of developing advocacy and campaign strategies and an understanding of how to influence political structures and decision makers, with strategic knowledge of the global political landscape.
- Experience of working with strategic alliances and coalitions in order to deliver a campaign.
- Authoritative figure with the credibility and management experience to negotiate with senior managers within the organisation.Ability to influence and get results without formal line management authority.
- An experienced manager with the ability and commitment to foster team work, collaboration, empowerment and co-ordination in a highly pressured and fast-moving environment.
- Excellent understanding of international institutions and processes, development issues and debates relevant to the Land-grabs Campaign.
- Ability to anticipate, coordinate and facilitate activities with colleagues; ability to understand and synthesize diverging points of view and resolve conflicts without escalation.
- Experience of project management in situations where external demands and opportunities often run ahead of internal processes and systems
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills and in particular the ability to think and operate strategically in a fast changing campaigning environment
- Excellent communicator and skilled spokesperson, with ability to represent advocacy messages with authority and credibility to the outside world
- Appreciation and ability to work in a multicultural context
- Commitment to ActionAid’s values and practice
- Gender awareness and knowledge of gender in development issues
- Ability to work in English and French
- Willingness and ability to travel
Education and Certification
- Relevant degree / Masters or equivalent experience
Desired Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of campaigning against Land-grabs
- Experience of campaigning in the South, especially in Africa or Asia
- Experience of campaigning against corporate targets
- Spanish or Portuguese
