History of the AKSHAYA
The long forgotten section of the society rise has to claim their equal opportunity and full Participation due to HUMAN DIGNITY under as one AKSHAYA Rehabilitation Trust – Disable Peoples organization (DPO).
In 1998, the group of Disables’ felt that Disables Rights based issue and Disability Development programs could be addressed more effectively only through an Institutional Mechanism. So, we have started “AKSHAYA Rehabilitation Trust” as a registered Voluntary, Non-Profitable and Tax Exempted Organisation under Indian Trust Act with the group of the Physically Challenged Wheelchair Persons in the same year to work for the disables empowerment. Mr.K.Kathiresan, an advocate and also person with disability is the founder chairman for this organization.
Since than “AKSHAYA” has been undertaking some initiatives fulfilling the demands of its constituency. This forms the basic for “AKSHAYA Rehabilitation Trust” in 1998 to address the issues of disabled persons in a comprehensive manner.

Our Vision: AKSHAYA envisions “ A Society where persons with Disability Attain Holistic Development through Social Inclusion and equal opportunity and full Participation”.
Our Mission: To work among and through the Persons with Disability at large, particularly with the Youth with Disabilities and non-disabled youths in the most Socio-Economically Disadvantage through a process of Organisation, Training, Networking, Education and Facilitating for Collective action through realizing their Holistic Development.
Our Goal: To act as a resource center for equal opportunity and full Participation for the persons with Disabilities in the society.

•Screening the Disabilities in all the districts of Tamil Nadu State, INDIA.
•Formation of Disability Youth Forums for Women, Men & Students with Disabilities.
•Providing Rehabilitation, Communication and Advocacy for •Disables in our various project target area.
•Providing Educational Counseling, Family Counseling and •Personality Development for the Disables’.
•Parent Training and Supported Programs.
•Integration into Educational Institution and Disability Human Resource Development.
•Promoting Disables Marriage for the Social Inclusion.
•Psycho – Social Care Training for the Disables’.
•Strengthening social participation and mainstreaming the Women with Disabilities.
•Providing free legal aid services for the disables and stake holders in our various project target area.
