The non-Governmental Organization, of the women, for the women and by the women named (Association for Better Community Development) has been striving hard to empower women and end violence against women & child labour in Sindh Pakistan . This group of dedicated women has a good experience of Community Development Activities and a great interest to work as volunteer. They have an experience, enthusiasm, commitment, zeal and zest. Their extra-special spirit is being utilized in productive activities with regard to Women Empowerment particularly Political Empowerment, Violence Against Women, Poverty Alleviation, Education, Health, Human Rights, & Community Development Sectors.
HISTORY: Miss Firdous Sangi played a vital role in the establishment of ABCD. Initially a group of like minded women joined informally to solve the local problems of the women at taluka level and started getting welcoming remarks and appreciations from the society. This group of dedicated women had a good experience of Community Development Activities and a great interest to work as volunteer. They had an experience, enthusiasm, commitment, zeal and zest. Gradually this group of women turned into pressure group and started working voluntarily with its clear aims and objectives. Ultimately, it took the shape of Association for Better Community Development (ABCD) in 2006.
ABCD has been involved in several social and economic development activities, such as non-formal education, environment, sanitation, income generation activities for women. Capacity building and human rights in Sindh province for the last 2 years. Provisions of basic health and organizing awareness campaigns on various social issues have been priority areas of ABCD. The organization has two years experience in the field of health, sanitation, social awareness and advocacy issues.

Mission: Building social movements of change agents committed to promoting women empowerment and eradicating gender discrimination, violence against women & child labour, establishment of peaceful democracy where women will have their rights respected and enshrined. & the struggle for a peaceful, just and healthy planet for all.
Organizational Goals: Preparation and implementation of plan of action for next two decades of 21st century to improve education, governance, resource development, stability of democratic process and economic development through designed activities.
Enhancement of the general status of women by providing women the means to improve their lives and the voice to make a difference, building the capacity of women and women’s groups to participate in political processes and public life, expanding women’s economic opportunities and legal rights, increasing access to education and health, breaking the cycle of violence against women, mobilizing women in broad societal reforms and renewing this world to a better and secure place for the women to live.
EXPERIENCE:
ABCD has been instrumentally working in the field of women education i.e. formal, non-formal, vocational and computer training since last 3 years. So far some projects/programs and centers have successfully been carried out by ABCD, which provided the women of the area with the facilities of formal education, non-formal education, adult education, vocational trainings, computer skills etc. Besides, numerous workshops/seminars regarding Women Education, Women Empowerment (Political, social and economic) and End Violence Against Women have also been organized in various areas of Sindh.
ABCD has worked in 6 districts of Sindh in coordination with Sindh Development Society (SDS) on Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) for raising awareness about the violence against women such as honour killing etc and advocacy on Women Empowerment.
ABCD has work experience with ACTIONAID PAKISTAN for almost one year.
ABCD is currently running the project named We Can End Violence Against Women with the collaboration of OXFAM-GB.
