About us:-DASHRA :-(Dalit Association for Social and Human Rights Awareness)is a registered Human Rights Organization actively engaged in the protection and promotion of human rights within the State of Bihar, India since 2002, working particularly among the Dalits.
It is registered under Society Registration Act 1860, Foreign Contribution Regulation Act ( FCRA), registered under 12A,80G of Income Tax for exemptions
History:A group of young and active Dalit students and activists, disturbed by the atrocities against the Dalits – especially during the massacre of Dalits in Bihar – felt the need to organize, educate and spread awareness of Dalit Rights, Women Rights, and Child Rights.
Vision:Promote a human rights culture in society by working towards the empowerment of the Dalits
Mission:Empowerment of the marginalized,Objectives:
- To provide a better future for the marginalized and vulnerable sections of Indian society.
- To liberate the Dalits and the vulnerable sections of society by bringing about a structural change in their socio-economic life.
- To work globally against discrimination based on work and descent.
- To campaign for the dignity of the marginalized sections of Indian society.
- To hold the state accountable for violations of human rights.
Activities of DASHRA.HUMAN RIGHTS MONITORING:Fact-Finding
Documentation centre,DASHRA also does Election Monitoring especially the atrocities against the Dalits during elections.Monitoring of custodial atrocities of rape, torture, deaths etc INTERVENTION:

Achievements:ASHRA has worked for preventing Torture in four District of Bihar for three year 2005 -2008. Monitored more that 2000 cases related torture. Legal intervention on 200 cases.DASHRA worked for promotion and Protection of Human Rights for Dalit community in Bihar from 2005-2008 under project.
DASHRA 1000 cadres trained about Human Rights and the safe guards and rights mentioned in Indian Constitution
20 districts of Bihar has been monitored about the violation of Human Rights against marginalized section e.g dalits , women , children and minorities through Most of the cases were murder, rape, assault, police torture, eviction, custodial death etc. In 2005-2006 out of 1732 monitored cases , 855 cases has been registered FIR in several Police station and complain in the courts, In 2006-2007, monitored cases 1650, registered FIR 801, In 2006-2008 out of 1303 monitored cases , 786 cases registered. DASHRA has provided legal Assistance to the victims of atrocities. Most of the violations against dalit are committed by dominant castes or police personals. DASHRA also worked in Bihar Flood 2008 . we provided Medical treatment and relief and rehabilitation voluntarily.
