InSET is a not-for-profit, secular development organization registered under Section XXI of the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It undertakes community and grass-root based activities with the objective of integrated development of people irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, belief or region. It strongly feels that in spite of many-five year plans having been put into application India could not achieve the desired development goals due to its wrong emphasis on ‘sector-based development approach’, rather than giving importance to ‘integrated development’. As a precondition towards attainment of such goals, InSET tries to build up a fair and equitable socio-economic framework with a view to replacing the existing one. InSET therefore strives to chart out its programs for development of all sectors- social, economic, educational, health and environment – in an integrated manner.
Some of the aims and objectives set out to achieve the goals are :
- Implementation of grass-root action programs for Health,
- Economic, Educational, and Environment development;
- Undertaking capacity building of NGOs, CBOs, VOs, Health workers, Paramedical staff through informal classes, workshops, Training programs, conferences, and seminars;
- Conducting Research, Surveys, Studies, M&E, Public awareness campaigns, and Advocacy programs;
- Undertaking relief activities including provision of medical aids, setting up medical camps, dispatching rescue teams etc. during natural calamities;
- Carrying out women empowerment and child development programs;
- Conducting advocacy, public campaigns, and lobbying on subjects that meet the objective of InSET;
- Networking with other development organizations to build up synergy in action and result.
