Description:
PSI (Population Services International) seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic candidates with an interest in private sector approaches to development for the position of Country Representative for India. PSI is highly decentralized, requiring considerable autonomy and initiative from its Country Representatives. This individual will be responsible for oversight of all areas of this large, dynamic platform, including strategic planning, donor relations, fundraising, and programmatic innovations. The Country Representative is based in New Delhi and reports to the Regional Director in Washington, D.C.
PSI/India is a large social marketing organization, with ~1600 employees and activities in 22 states and Union Territories. PSI/India markets 15 products and services addressing prevention of HIV/AIDS, prevention and treatment of STIs, family planning, and maternal and child health.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Country Representative will be responsible for the overall development, management (financial, administrative, and programmatic), and representation of PSI’s activities in India. This includes, but is not limited to:
# Leadership of a high-level senior management team
# External relations with multiple donors, Government, NGO, and commercial entities
# Development of long term strategic plans
# Oversight of the development of annual marketing and operational plans
# Fundraising for existing and new activities
# Oversight of internal controls and accountability mechanisms
# Program development, including further innovation within existing program areas and expansion into new areas
Experience:
# Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience
# At least 5 years work experience in a developing country
# 5+ years of management experience, preferably in marketing, communications or public health and preferably managing high-level colleagues
# Demonstrated strengths in strategic organizational leadership and external relations
# Experience working constructively with international donors and government ministries
# Knowledge of international development and health issues
The successful candidate will be a creative, innovative and strategic thinker, and will have: excellent communication, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; a strong interest in private sector approaches to development; and proven ability to produce results. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated fund raising ability and experience in qualitative and quantitative research.
