Background and Rationale
Armed conflicts and violence force large populations to flee their homes, often with little or no belongings. Displaced families frequently reside in overcrowded camps, informal settlements, or makeshift shelters lacking basic protection, privacy, and dignity.
Exposure to harsh weather conditions, poor living environments, and inadequate access to essential household items significantly increases vulnerability to illness, protection risks, and psychological distress. Women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities face heightened risks in such settings.
Timely provision of emergency shelter and essential non-food items (NFIs) is critical to ensure safety, restore dignity, and meet immediate survival needs of displaced populations.
Goal
To improve the living conditions, safety, and dignity of displaced populations through the provision of emergency shelter and essential non-food items.
