Background and Rationale
Democratic participation is fundamental to accountable governance and inclusive development. However, many citizens—especially youth, women, and marginalized communities—face barriers to accessing information, engaging in policymaking, and holding institutions accountable.
According to the United Nations Development Programme, digital tools can enhance transparency, improve public service delivery, and increase citizen engagement. Similarly, the World Bank recognizes civic technology (civic tech) as a powerful instrument for participatory governance and anti-corruption efforts.
This project proposes the development and deployment of inclusive civic tech platforms to increase democratic participation, transparency, and accountability at the local level.
