Delta Alliance Young Professionals Award will be organized on the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in June 2012. This Delta Alliance invites young Delta Professionals throughout
These awards are given in coordination with the 2012 Rio+20 themes ‘Green Economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication’. Delta Alliance is looking for creative as well as innovative solutions to deal with the acute challenges which the world is facing today.
The award is given to young professionals having age of 35 years, counted from the time when the award is granted (i.e. who were born after June 21st 1976).
Participants can be students or young professionals working in a wide range of fields including:
•Urban- and landscape planning
•Soil and water sciences
•Engineering
•Architecture
•Meteorology
•Resources
Planning
•Economy
•Communication
•Policy
Proposed solutions will address two or more of these challenges in an integrated manner, which contributes to the reconciliation of social, natural and economic functions, and demonstrates the value of integrated (spatial) planning.
The Topics are as follows:
•Counteracting the disruption of natural delta dynamics such as
•Mitigating water scarcity & flooding
•Prevent and manage pollution
•Provision of water for food & agriculture
•Climate-proofing of infrastructure
•Adaptation of institutions to achieve integrated delta governance
•Land subsidence
•Loss of biodiversity
•Urbanization
Moreover, they will be given the opportunity to further develop their solution in association with of an internationally renowned institute or company in the Netherlands, and in one of the Delta Alliance Wings. Delta Alliance will offer custom-made support to create this partnership and encourage the young professionals in the development of their Delta solutions.
