The Peace and Sport Awards awarded every year since 2008 are aimed at recognizing the services and contributions rendered by the sport initiatives and individuals who contribute to peace and social stability in the world, in areas that have been made vulnerable due to poverty, the aftermath of conflict or lack of social cohesion.
Awards recognise the expertise of many different kinds of actors for sustainable peace through sport. These initiatives help to highlight best practices and enhance experiences in the field to inspire others.
Applications are now open for the Peace and Sport Awards 2011. Although there will be one outright winner in each of the seven categories, three nominees will be selected for presentation to the Jury.
The Peace and Sport Awards Ceremony will take place during the Gala Dinner of the Peace and Sport International Forum on Thursday 27th October 2011. H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and the President and Founder of Peace and Sport, Mr. Joël Bouzou, will present the winner from each category with a trophy.
You can nominate for the category which you consider most appropriate to your initiative:
– New in 2011: Champion for Peace of the Year
– Best Peace Project from an International Sports Federation
– Sports Event for Peace of the Year
– Non‐Governmental Organization for Peace of the Year
– Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Year
