The Reed Elsevier is receiving applications for the Environmental Challenge 2015 awards and prizes. It is awarded to the projects that best demonstrate how they can provide sustainable access to safe water where it is presently at risk and/or access to improved sanitation.
Award Prize contains
- $50,000 prize for the first winner and a $25,000 prize for the second winner.
- Relevant training and professional development up to $2,500 each.
- Free access for one year to ScienceDirect, Elsevier’s database of full text, scientific information, including almost 250,000 articles since 2000 in Environmental Sciences.
- The winning projects will be highlighted in the Reed Elsevier journal Water Research.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be 21 or over to enter the Challenge.
- Applicants may participate as individuals, teams of individuals, or individually or in teams on behalf of an organization.
- An educational or not-for-profit institution or corporations are eligible to participate.
- Submission of an application (“Application”) on behalf of a group of individuals or an Organization shall constitute a representation by the individual submitting the application that he/she is authorized to represent the team to submit the Application and distribute any prize money.
- Directors, officers and employees (and their immediate families and household members) of Reed Elsevier Group plc (the “Sponsor”) and its affiliates (“Reed Elsevier”) and their respective advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to enter the Challenge.
- The Environmental Challenge is subject to applicable laws of an applicant’s jurisdiction.
How to Apply
To access the application, participants must follow the instructions on the Reed Elsevier Environmental Challenge website and then register on the application site. Upon successful registration, participants will receive a link to the Application Form.
