The top ten donors provided a little over USD $115 million in total with the Global Fund for Women offering the most grants with 591 projects around the world.
Research also showed that more than 40% of funding for women and girls was directed to NGOs in North America. Sub-Saharan Africa was second with 16%, Latin America third with 13%, Asia-Pacific fourth with 8% and Eastern Europe rounding out the top five. The Caribbean received the lowest amount of financial assistance with just 1%.
