Deadline: 21 December 2015
Wisions is currently accepting applications for Sustainable Energy Project Support (SEPS) in order to support project concepts that demonstrate how to apply small-scale renewable energy technologies to meet energy-related needs and improve energy access for Latin American and Caribbean people. Through SEPS, WISIONS supports innovative energy projects that are environmentally, economically and socially sound as well as fostering knowledge exchanges between practitioners.
SEPS generally offers support for two kinds of activities:
- the implementation of sustainable energy projects (SEPS – Support of Projects) and
- the realization of knowledge exchanges between organizations/specialists (SEPS – Support of Knowledge Exchanges).
“WISIONS of sustainability” is an initiative by the Wuppertal Institute supported by the Swiss-based foundation ProEvolution. The WISIONS initiative has been actively promoting the introduction of sustainable energy solutions and resource efficiency since it was launched in 2004 with an objective to make clean energy a default solution for basic energy needs in developing regions, by helping local partners to identify successes and bring them to scale through regional networks, marketing and demonstration.
Benefits
SEPS is looking for exchange activities that can strengthen the capabilities of practitioners and local organizations working in the field of applied renewable energy technologies. For that end SEPS supports face-to-face exchanges.
- mutual visits of staff/personnel of two or more organizations for knowledge sharing
- face to face consultation(s) undertaken by specialists in the field
- practical hands-on training
- intensive training workshops for staff/personnel of one or more organizations, adapted to their specific needs
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be able to assess the project proposals submitted and compare them in a structured way, WISIONS has drawn up a set of criteria to ensure the sustainable character of the projects and the relevant forms of support.
- Technical viability
- Management model and economic feasibility
- Local and global environmental benefits
- Social context and impact
- Innovative aspects
- Replicability and dissemination concept
- Sound implementation strategy
- Between 3 and 6 technical projects will be selected for support in a three-stage validation procedure based on the above listed criteria.
- The projects must be innovative and demonstrate an integrated and sound approach in their implementation
- Only projects that are ready to be implemented are eligible for SEPS support
