Fluor Foundation’s mission is to promote education, environment, social science and community development in both developed and underdeveloped countries.
Fluor considers requests for operating, program, capital, or endowment support. Priority is given to organizations that feature employee volunteer participation.
Areas of Focus
- Education: in disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). It supports higher education and university STEM programs, as well as those benefiting grades K-12 (approximately ages 6 to 18), with particular emphasis on:
- STEM teacher training and professional development
- Middle and high school (approximately ages 12 to 18) STEM programs
- Social Services: As a global company, working in both developed and underdeveloped countries, it recognize how important it is to ensure that people have access to basic needs. To this end, we support organizations that:
- Provide food, such as food banks and meal services charities
- Shelter the homeless, abused and orphans
- Offer prevention programs and emergency services during crises, such as food, shelter and counseling
- Community and Economic Development: Fluor is committed to supporting programs that:
- Build quality, affordable and energy efficient low-income housing
- Refurbish existing substandard housing and general infrastructure
- Create jobs or develop workforces by providing job training or retraining for adults
- Prepare youth to compete in today’s global economy
- Assist with rebuilding or infrastructure support in case of a natural or man-made disaster
- Environment: It supports organizations that protect natural resources and habits through:
- Conservation, restoration and beautification
- Environmental education
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant Organizations must be U.S. 501(c) 3 public charity OR registered international non-profit.
- The foundation does not support individuals.
- Fluor Foundation also encourages applications from organizations that provide food, shelter and prevention programs and emergency services.
Application Process
Nongovernmental organizations or educational institutions wishing to request funding should make an initial inquiry in the form of a two to three-page letter. If the proposal is of interest to Fluor, additional information will be requested. Requests are reviewed on an ongoing basis. The letter should include the following information:
- Full legal name of the organization with description
- Amount of money requested, amount raised to date, list of other contributors, and proposed project budget
- Copy of an IRS 501 (c) (3) ruling (U.S. only) or other documentation substantiating tax exemption status
- List of governing board members
- History of previous support by Fluor
- Description of any volunteer involvement by Fluor employees
- Name, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number of organization contact person
