Call for Proposals are invited at The 22nd Annual Renfrew Center Foundation Conference on the topic, “Feminist Relational Perspectives and Beyond: Exploring Controversy, Building Collaboration” from November 9 to 11, 2012 at Philadelphia Airport Marriott.
Owing to the recent developments in the field of eating disorders in recent years, the extent of available information and knowledge has expanded exponentially. Along with this explosion of data, important theoretical and clinical controversies have emerged. As a result, both clinicians and researchers have grown increasingly unshakable in a number of polarized perspectives regarding the most valid way to understand and treat eating and food related problems. How these controversies are addressed and resolved will have a profound impact on future growth and productivity in the field. The 22nd Renfrew Center Foundation Conference is dedicated to an examination of the most significant current issues and controversies and to a search for respectful as well as collaborative solutions.
Accepted Proposals will address:
- Understanding how brain-based, interpersonal, familial and cultural variables interact to create and maintain an eating disorder
- The role of attachment in etiology and treatment
- Conceptualizations of eating disorders recovery
- The role of parents, partners, siblings, children and the community in successful treatment
- The impact of bullying on eating disorders’ etiology and treatment
- Determining treatment modalities for anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder – evaluating trends/waiting for the evidence
- Qualitative and quantitative perspectives on treatment: implications for clinical decision making
- Differing theoretical perspectives and practical approaches to BED, obesity and weight loss
