Asia Pacific Graduates Youth Forum on Green Economy is being organised in Kathmandu, Nepal from 25-29 September, 2012 by The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) which is non-governmental organization developing students-teachers-scientists (STS) networks to promote sustainable lifestyles through education and knowledge sharing, The Consortium for Capacity Building (CCB), University of Colorado, Asia Pacific Mountain Network (APMN), International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN).
The forum will attract 40 youth from the wider Asia-Pacific region, who are engaged in sustainability issues. The five-day long program will contain capacity building and knowledge exchange sessions, leadership exercises and excursions to nearby environmental projects. The forum is also supported by the Government of Nepal, the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), US Agency for International Development/Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA), the Small Earth Australia (SEA), and the Centre for Hydrology at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
objectives–
- To develop capacity of selected Asia Pacific Youth on green economy, environmental governance and climate change adaptation through a scientific workshop.
- To facilitate information and knowledge sharing, networking and advocacy processes on above themes in the region through establishment of a virtual as well as physical network of dedicated youth.
- To improve significantly participation if regional youth in globally important meeting UNFCCC CoP-18.
Information related to Visa-
- All participants out of the host country are required to be in possession of valid national passport.
- Participants from India will not require visa. However Indian Nationals Traveling to Nepal must posses any One of the following documents-
- Passport
- Driving License with photo
- Photo Identity card issued by a Government Agency
- Ration Card with Photo
- Election Commission Card with Photo
- Identity Card issued by Embassy of India in Kathmandu
- Identity Card with Photo issued by Sub- Divisional Magistrate or any other officials above his rank
- Participants from SAARC countries will get VISA (15 days) upon arrival at TIA after filling VISA form with passport size photograph.
- SAARC countries participants will get Gratis (Free) visa if they are visiting first time this year, otherwise they have to pay for the entry visa.
- Non SAARC countries participants will be charged USD 25 for the entry VISA.
- People of these countries do not get visa on arrival at the immigration entry points of Nepal: – Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan. They need to obtain visas from Nepalese embassies or diplomatic missions in their respective countries prior to their arrival in Nepal.
- To get a visa a valid passport (validity more than six months) and one passport size photo with a light background are required. Immigration Department of Nepal has not specified the size of the passport-size photo.
- Visa can be obtained only through payment of cash in the following currency : Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US dollar, Australian dollar, Canadian dollar, Hong-kong dollar, Singapore dollar and Japanese Yen. Credit Card, Indian currency or Nepalese currency are not accepted for payment of Visa fee.
Eligibility-
Applications from Youth aged between 18-30 with an academic or a professional degree in the related fields from the Asia-Pacific region are eligible. Those who have already shown their leadership in green economy sectors are strongly encouraged to apply.
