Ten years after the first Afghanistan Conference in Bonn in 2001, a follow-up conference is being held in Bonn again on 5 December 2011. Together with Afghanistan, the goal of this conference is to discuss all the aspects of the present situation in the country and give a concrete shape to the transition process and future engagement of the international community in Afghanistan. A total of around 90 delegations with 1000 participants are expected. Afghanistan will preside over the conference and Germany will host it. The United Nations will also play an important role.
