AusAID is seeking highly motivated and experienced stabilisation and recovery specialists to join the Australian Civilian Corps. Experts in the following fields are currently being sought:
Aid coordination; Agriculture / Livelihoods; Education administration; Electoral; Engineering and planning; Health administration; Law and justice; Needs assessment; planning and monitoring; Public financial management / Economic management; Public sector management; and Stabilisation and recovery.
The Australian Civilian Corps deploys civilian specialists to countries experiencing or emerging from natural disaster or conflict. The Corps supports stabilisation, recovery and development planning. Civilian Corps specialists work with and within host governments to rebuild state functions, the rule of law and essential service delivery.
The Civilian Corps will act as a much-needed bridge between humanitarian and emergency response measures and long-term development programs. It complements the existing and important work already facilitated by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) in the areas of emergency response and ongoing humanitarian aid.
Ultimately, the Civilian Corps will comprise a register of 500 pre-screened and pre-trained civilian specialists, ready to respond to requests for assistance. Civilian specialists will be selected for their technical skills and ability to work in challenging overseas environments. They will come from both the Australian public sector and the broader Australian community, and will have a range of skills and experience.
