The Government of Canada believes that the best solutions to the challenges facing the communities of the country are often found locally. In this context, in January 2011, the Prime Minister announced the creation of the Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards to recognize the enormous contribution volunteers make to Canada. The Government of Canada also expressed its interest in looking to innovative charities and forward-thinking private-sector companies to partner on new approaches to many social challenges.
The Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards recognize the exceptional contributions of volunteers, local businesses and innovative not-for-profit organizations in improving the well-being of families and their communities. In this context, Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards Secretariat has issued a call for nominations for the same.
