Minnesota Soybean is a membership-based organization that conducts legislative work on behalf of nearly 3,500 soybean farmer members. Minnesota is the third largest soybean producing state in U.S.
The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council has come up with a scholarship for the students who are willing to continue education in college or vocational school programs focused on agriculture. The main aim of this scholarship is to get more of professionals in the soybean industry and this is one way soybean farmers can invest in bright students who are interested in a solid career opportunity that can help us increase soybean production and feed the world.
Applicants to the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council College Scholarship must be:
- A resident of Minnesota.
- From a family who is active in agriculture.
- A junior or senior in college.
- Pursuing an education in soybean agronomy, soil science, soybean genetics, large animal v et or animal nutrition.
- Active in Ag-related, campus and/or community activities.
For high school students, the eligibility requirements include being: a resident of Minnesota; from a family active in agriculture; graduating from high school in the spring of 2012; active in both agriculture and community; and must be pursuing an education in agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural animal nutrition, large animal vet or food science related program
For 2012-2013, four, $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school students and up to four, $2,000 scholarships will be granted to college juniors and seniors. This scholarship program is administered by a Scholarship Selection Committee, which is made up of directors from the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability or national origin.
The applications must be postmarked on or before March 1. Minnesota Soybean leader s will then interview finalists. Successful scholarship recipients will be notified by May 1.
