Applications are invited from organizations for Sisters of Mercy Peace Awards for a peace-building project that just needs a little money to get off the ground.
As in the past, $30,000 will be disbursed this year in the form of small grants to Vermont-based individuals and groups working for peace and social justice.
The committee is looking for applications which reflect-
- a commitment to principles of non-violence;
- democratic organization;
- diversity or a commitment to diversity.
Eligibility-
All proposals must involve the wider community and special attention will be given to projects which focus on youth. Recipients of previous grants include Vermont Refugee Assistance, Pax Christi Burlington, the Vermont Peace Academy, the Addison County Farmworker Coalition, and the Rural Women Leadership Institute of Vermont.
